Episode Review: Special Attraction

Season 4, Episode 25
Air Date: May 1st, 1995
Writer(s): Christopher

Summary
Toby was on his way to the beach, he was to be the special attraction, but when they got there, the station master said they didn't need one any more, so Toby went back home.

Back at the yard's Percy was shunting, he didn't expect to see Toby back so soon, then Sir Top Ham Hatt came and said Percy needed to go to the docks for some work, Percy wondered why. His driver explained about Bulstrode, but he still wondered about Toby. When he got there Bulstrode was cross, the truck's told Percy to shunt them so they could be rid of Bulstrode.

The truck's were careless, and they went right through the buffers in to Bullstrode. He started to sink, they the workmen came, unloaded the cars and put him on a beach where the children could play in him. Back at the station Toby and Percy exchanged news, Percy said they are both Special Attractions on there own line.

Review
It was strange that the workmen put Bullstrode on the beach with out asking Sir Top Ham Hatt. It was odd that the trucks were mean to Bulstrode, but not to Percy, you would think they would try and bump him off the rails, after reading there description. It would be nice to see Bulstrode again in CGI.

Over all I give this episode a 2/10

Episode Review: Fish

Season 4, Episode 24
Air Date: April 20th, 1996
Writer(s): Christopher Awdry

Summary
It was night time at the harbor, Henry was getting ready to take the flying kipper, but all they had were old cars, Duck shunted them. Thomas warned Duck about fish, knowing from his own experience.

Soon Henry left, when he got to the station he tooted a special whistle that let Duck know it was time to help shunt the train up Gordon's hill. half way up, Duck thought something was wrong, then the tail lamp fell off, Henry thought the train was heaver.

Then Duck smashed in to the back of the train, he could smell the fish. The next day Sir Top Ham Hatt told Duck it wasn't his fault because the tail light wasn't fixed on properly. Duck informed Sir Top Ham Hatt that he got him self in the right pickle.

Review
This episode seems to be a rewrite of The Flying Kipper, Sir Top Ham Hatt had some of the same line's from that episode when he talked to Duck. When Thomas was talking to Duck it seemed like he was teasing him, but he wasn't. Sir Top Ham Hatt's face was cross looking when he was taking to Duck, but then it changed to a smile after.

Over all I give Fish a 5/10

Episode Review: Thomas Meets the Queen

Season 4, Episode 23
Air Date: April 16th, 1995
Writer(s): Reverend W. Awdry

Summary
Thomas and Gordon were puffing buffer to buffer back to Tidmouth sheds remembering there accident's. Back at the sheds, they were surprised to see them decorated, Sir Top Ham Hatt was there, he announced that the queen was coming and they had to get ready.

The next day the rain came, Henry was at the station, and a man painting fell backwards on Henry, soon Sir Top Ham Hatt came, he said Henry looked like a iced cake, and that he couldn't pull the special train.

Then Sir Top Ham Hatt talked to Thomas and Gordon, he said Thomas would shunt the coaches and Gordon would pull the train. Soon the big day came, all the engines were at the station, then Gordon came through with the queen, Sir Top Ham Hatt greeted her on the plat from, then she spoke to all the engines, then it was time for her to go.

Review
It was strange that they decorated the sheds, but the queen didn't go there, why did they bother? Gordon and Thomas were taking about there crash, but that episode was way before this one, they should have aired them next to each other. I thought the part where Sir Top Ham Hatt said Henry was an "iced cake" was funny. It's odd that Gordon's buffers were painted white.

Over all I give this episode a 2/10

Episode Review: Thomas & the Special Letter

Season 4, Episode 22
Air Date: April 10th, 1995
Writer(s): Reverend W. Awdry

Summary
Thomas was going to the junction, Percy was there, he was on his way to the station. Toby wondered what was going on, then Bill, Ben, Duck, Oliver, Donald and Douglas puffed past, they were going to the station to. When they got there Sir Top Ham Hatt was there, he read a letter that said a little girl wanted to invite them to the station in the big city. Sir Top Ham Hatt said they would all go there, but other engine's would have to do the work while they were away, Thomas and Oliver practised with some other coaches.
Thomas was taking about his race with Bertie, then he raced through a fence, slide down a slope and damaged his buffers. Sir Top Ham Hatt said if he wasn't fixed in time, he might now be able to go. When the big day came all the engines were ready at the junction, Thomas came just after eight. When they got there lot's of kid's were excited to see them at the station.

Review
It was strange that Donald and Douglas didn't go to the station. When the narrator said the engines were meeting at the station, they were really meeting at Tidmouth sheds, that's a big error. You could see Bill or Ben looking at Thomas when he crashes through the buffers, I'm not sure which engine it is. The image I found on the TTTE Wikia seems to be dusty from the crash.

Over All I give this episode a 1/10

Episode Review: Bulls Eyes

Season 4, Episode 21
Air Date: April 3rd. 1996
Writer(s): Reverend W. Awdry

Summary
Toby went to the station, Daisy was there, she thought Tobys' cowcatchers were silly. Daisy thought she could just toot her horn and the animals and people would stand clear, but at the next station a police man told Daisy there was a bull on the line.

The bull had crashed through a fence slithered down a slope and now he didn't know where he was. Daisy came and tried to toot him away, but he was to busy munching grass. The bull turned around and sniffed at Daisy, then she puffed quickly away.

Then Toby came to the shed where Daisy went, he started teasing her, then he went off to get the bull off the tracks, first he tried ringing his bell, then he tooted his horn, then he let off steam, that worked, and the bull went back to the farmer.

Daisy was tired from her days' work, some boy's were on the plat from. They had some sweets called bulls eye's, Daisy said to keep there own bulls eye's, and went back to her shed.

Review
I enjoyed the sound track on this episode, and I also liked Daisy's jazzy theme song. This is the first episode that Toby tooted his whistle in, I never knew he had one because he always uses his bell. It's odd that there are so many whistle sound error's listed on the TTTE Wikia, why don't they get it right?

Over all I give Bulls Eyes a 5/10

Episode Review: Toad Stands By

Season 4, Episode 20
Air Date: March 20, 1995
Writer(s): Reverend W. Awdry

Summary
Oliver got back from being mended, he fell in the turn table well. The car's were singing rudely to Oliver, the other engines tried to stop them, but they soon gave up. Toad asked Donald if he could stay with Oliver that day, Donald said yes. Toad explained his plan to Duck and Oliver. Oliver marshaled the worst cars two by two, he put S. C. Ruffey at the front of the train, there was plenty of sand on the rails so Oliver tugged hard, soon S. C. Ruffey came apart. Latter, Sir Top Ham Hatt talked with Oliver, then he inspected S. C. Ruffey. After he was put back together he said nothing at all, and all the other cars were careful around Oliver.

Review
It was a little strange when Oliver went in the middle of the car's when they were singing, why would he do that? I didn't really like this episode, it teaches revenge to younger children.

Over all I give this episode a 2/10

Episode Review: Henry & the Elephant

Season 4, Episode 19
Air Date: March 12, 1996
Writer(s): Reverend W. Awdry
Director(s): David Mitton
Producer(s): Britt Allcroft, David Mitton

Summary
Thomas was happily puffing down his branch line, he got to the station, and Sir Top Ham Hatt was there, he said Thomas was right on time and really reliable. At Tidmouth sheds the three big engines were grumbling because Percy was late.

Henry made a joke that James should be in the circus, the Percy arrived and told them that the circus was coming to Sodor, they set to work moving the special cars around. After Gordon and Henry were cross all over again when James got to pull the special train away. Latter Sir Top Ham Hatt told Henry to take some workmen to a blocked tunnel. The workmen went in, but rushed out saying the block was big and alive.

Henry went in to push it out, but something started pushing him backwards, it was a elephant. The workmen gave him some cake, the he had two bucket's of water and was about to have a third when Henry let off steam, the elephant got scared and sprayed Henry.

Soon the elephant keeper came and took the elephant. Back at the shed Henry was upset, Gordon and James still teased him, but Thomas said he was a really useful engine.

Review
This episode is a popular one, I think the tunnel with the elephant was the same tunnel that Henry got stuck in. It's strange that the workmen all looked up in the tunnel, but they still didn't know it was a elephant. Why would the elephant keeper still be on Sodor after the circus left?

Over all I give Henry & the Elephant a 4/10

Weekend Special: The Great Discovery Movie Overview

Writer(s): Sharon Miller
Air Date: September 9th, 2008

Summary
Sodor day was coming, Thomas and James were racing to the wharf, Thomas won, then Mr. Percival gave them there jobs. James got to work at the wharf and Thomas had to work with Duncan taking wood from the hills to the wharf.

Duncan decided to play a trick on Thomas, he told him about a high bridge that went to the wharf. Duncan lead Thomas to the bridge, but when he got there he discovered it was very high.

As soon as Thomas got half way across the bridge snapped in half, then there was another crash, the bridge tumbled into the riven below. Thomas backed to safety, just as he got back the rest of the bridge fell in to the riven.

Then Thomas went down another old track by the bridge, there were lots of bushes in the way, but when he got to the end he discovered an old town. He raced off to tell everyone, he saw Madge on his way out, he told Madge to tell everyone.

After everyone told one another Sir Top Ham Hatt finally heard about it. Harold took Sir Top Ham Hatt to Thomas who then showed him the town, it happened to be Great Waterten.

They went back to Tidmouth sheds where Sir Top Ham Hatt gave all the engines important jobs. He let Thomas find all the hidden tracks and manage all the jobs. The next day a new engine arrived to do Thomas' job's, his name was Stanley, the engines were impressed.

Thomas was admiring his new shed when James came by and told him about Stanley, and how well he was doing Thomas' job's. Thomas puffed by the wash down, he saw Stanley and Percy, they were having fun, they both told the workmen to put on more bubbles, Thomas said hello, but they didn't notice him.

Then Thomas went to get Jack, he told them to work extra hard. Then he got some trucks, but he went to fast around the bend, he crashed and his cars rolled of the line. Sir Top Ham Hatt came by and said Edward would take him to the works and Stanley would take over his job at Great Waterton.

Thomas was sad, but once he was repaired he rushed off to Great Waterton. When he got there he was surprised at what had been done, then he saw Stanley, Sir Top Ham Hatt noticed him and told him to come over, Sir Top Ham Hatt said Stanley would stay in charge because he was doing such a good job.

Thomas was upset, then Stanley told him to shunt some freight cars. Thomas had a plan, he shunted a long line so Stanley couldn't pull it. When Stanley started pulling it up the hill, the coupling broke and the train crashed in to the tower tumbling in down, bricks exploded everywhere.

Thomas felt bad because he knew it was his fault. Sir Top Ham Hatt said Jack and his crew would load the cars of ruble and the engines would shunt them away. That night everyone was asleep expect Thomas. Thomas shunted the long line of cars, when he was finished he saw another one, he biffed it hard, it rolled away and was gone.

Thomas went after it, it went in a old mine, it was very dark. Thomas didn't see the junction up ahead, the car went to the right and Thomas went left, but Thomas had so much fun he soon forgot about the car. Then there was trouble, the line ahead was blocked, Thomas smashed through and landed on a barge in water.

He stated drifting, then he got worried. The next day the engines arrived for work, everyone wondered where Thomas was. Sir Top Ham Hatt said everyone must look for him. Stanley went off in the hills thinking about Thomas, he blew his whistle one last time, meanwhile Thomas had come out the other end of the mine, he flew over a riven and landed by an old track, he heard Stanley's whistle and whistled back.

Stanley soon found Thomas and pulled him on the line, but after Stanley's valve popped, so Thomas shunted him to Great Waterton. The news soon spread that Thomas was back and soon Sir Top Ham Hatt found out.

At Great Waterton Sir Top Ham Hatt said it was ready for Sodor Day, when Sodor Day came Sir Top Ham Hatt, Lady Hatt and the Mayor were standing by the tower, Sir Top Ham Hatt announced that Great Waterton was lost, but now it is found.

Characters Seen In Film
Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, Toby, Emily, Arthur, Harvey, Stanley, Skarloey, Rheneas, Sir Handle, Peter Sam, Duncan, Freddie, Mighty Mac, Rusty, Jack, Alfie, Max and Monty, Oliver, Ned, Buster, Madge, Harold, Cranky, Sir Top Ham Hatt, Lady Hatt, Miss Jenny and Mr. Percival.

My Own Thoughts
It was nice to see lot's of characters in the movie. The story is like Misty Island Rescue, and it reminds me of Milo and Otis. I don't get why they have to reck the end with ugly rap after all the nice songs the kids sang during the movie, it would be nice if Hit Entertainment brought back a children's choir. Over all the movie was OK.

Season 17 Episode Overview: Not Now, Charlie

Season 17, Episode 10
Air Date: June 14th, 2013(UK)
Writer(s): Davey Moore

Summary
Charlie was telling jokes to the other engines, but latter he saw a elephant on the line. Then he went to the Animal Park to discover a whole in the elephant pen. He went to tell all the other engines, but they thought it was a joke, so Charlie went to the Sodor Search & Rescue center to get Harold. Then they went to find the elephant, they soon found it by the docks. The elephant was loaded on the flatbed, then they went to Brendam docks to show the other engines. They were amazed that Charlie was telling the truth. After Sir Topham Hatt said Charlie was a really useful engine he decided not to tell jokes anymore, but that didn't last because he told Salty a joke soon after.

My Own Thoughts
This episode reminded me of Henry and the Elephant, it's funny that Henry saw a elephant and didn't believe Charlie. It was funny that Cranky was scared of elephants. Gordon's laugh was funny to. It's strange that Harold wouldn't check with his manager before going out. Over all the episode was all right.

Episode Review: Bowled Out

Season 4, Episode 18
Air Date: February 20th, 1995
Writer(s): Reverend W. Awdry

Summary
Stepney's visit to Sir Top Ham Hatt's railway was coming to an ending, he told Stepney that he would miss him, then he turned to the other engines informing them that they needed some help, and that a diesel was all that was available. He also said to avoid the disturbance's. Duck wondered what that meant, James told him it meant the diesel was difficult. When the Diesel came he told the engines that Sir Top Ham Hatt should scrap them and get more engines like him. The next morning they held a indignation meeting around the turn table. Donald and Douglas wanted to teach him a lesson, but wondered how. There chance soon came the Diesel was boasting to Duck and Stepney when he was ready, but he ground to a stop in front of his coach's. Meanwhile the inspector was looking for his hat that the Diesel had sucked in to his air intake. He was furious when Stepney pushed him back in the shed. Sir Top Ham Hatt said he and Duck would have to take the train. They left and got there early, Gordon was impressed. The next day the engines said good bye to Stepney. Latter the Diesel slipped out while no one was looking and left behind a nasty smell and a battered bowler hat.

Review
This episode was funny. The only problem I noticed was that Stepney said James told him that The Diesel was sulking in the shed, but Stepney never talked to James. It was funny when Sir Top Ham Hatt said"bother your hatt", I don't know why.

Over all I give Bowled Out a 3/10

Season 17 Episode Overview: The Switch

Season 17, Episode 9
Air Date: June 13th, 2013(UK)
Writer(s): Davey Moore

Summary
Millie was enjoying her job at the ulfstead castle, Luke came by with a load of stone for the castle from the quarry. Luke said hi to Millie, they decided to switch jobs for the day. Luke's first job was to take supplies to Sir Robert Norramby's lodge, but he puffed all around the castle and couldn't find it. At the Blue Mountain Quarry, Rheneas wasn't sure if this was the right job for Millie because she couldn't pull the cars right away, but she soon discovered that she was much stronger. Then Luke had to take some passengers.  He speed along the tracks. Sir Robert Norramby explained that Luke had to slow down. Meanwhile Millie was scared to go through the tunnel, Rheneas informed her that he couldn't wait around all day. She whooshed through and discovered that she enjoyed it. Then Luke took the passengers again and slowed down so they could see the dear and all the other sights. Millie soon discovered that she was strong and didn't mind the extra dust. When the finished there days work the were happy to go home.

My Own Thoughts
Well, Millie is the first french narrow gauge engine. It's funny that there are two  narrow gauge engine's with different language's now. I liked the scenes by the castle, they always to a good job with the country scenes. This episode was entertaining because they went back and forth from place to place. Tomorrow we finish off the second week with Not Now, Charlie.

Season 17 Episode Overview: Luke's New Friend

Season 17, Episode 8
Air Date: June 12th, 2013(UK)
Writer(s): Davey Moore

Summary
The narrow gauge engines were finishing up a days work, suddenly Rheneas saw a deer on the line and stopped. Then they finished up there work and went to sleep. Luke was to excited to sleep, he saw the deer again, but he was scared and kept running away. Luke turned off his light not expecting to see the dear again. In the morning he was very surprised to find the deer in his cab. Luke's driver feed him and Luke tried to be quiet, and at the same time keep all the other engines quite. Peter Sam was working so hard on being quiet that he accidentally bumped Rusty's train and made a loud crash, the deer got scared again. Latter Luke had to take a load of stone to Ulfstead castle, the deer enjoyed the ride, it saw it's mom on the way and jumped out to see her, it looked at Luke making sure it was all right to go. When Luke got back the other engines wondered where the deer was, Luke explained the story and he decided that he liked the noisy quarry better anyway.

My Own Thoughts
This episode reminded me of Percy's New Friend's, it's all most a re-write of it. I like the sunset scenes in the episode, we haven't seen a episode start at the end of the day in a while. The Switch should have came before this episode because if Luke was all ready going to Ulfstead castle he would have meet Millie earlier.

Episode Review: Train Stops Play

Season 4, Episode 17
Air Date: February 16, 1996
Writer(s): Reverend W. Awdry

Summary
Stepney was enjoying Sir Top Ham Hatt's railway, he also explained that he liked trucks, Percy let him take his trucks. Stepney had to stop at the signal on the way to the station, some people were playing cricket in the filed nearby, so the driver and fireman watched for a minute. Than one of the players accidentally hit there ball in to one of Stepney's trucks. The player went to Caroline and they chased Stepney along the line. Stepney's driver thought it was a joker who wanted a race, so the tried to loose them in the tunnel, but Caroline went up the hill double her speed and caught Stepney who was all ready at the station, the the player explained the problem to Stepney's driver. After he found his ball the agreed to a play, Caroline was loaded on to a flatbed and the players boarded in to a caboose. They  all went to the filed and watched the game.

Review
This episode was nice, I never saw it before, I always thought that Stepney just went home after the last episode. I didn't really like Caroline's voice at the end, it just sounded funny. At first I thought the ball knocked the signal green, but it didn't.

Over all I give this episode a 5/10

Season 17 Episode Overview: Henry's Hero

Season 17, Episode 7
Air Date: June 11th, 2013(UK)
Writer(s): Laura Beaumont, Paul Larson

 Summary
One day Henry and Hiro were filling up on coal, then they had to take a long train of trucks to the docks, but on the way Henry's coal started turning black, then Hiro's did to. Soon they saw Duck, he said they must have taken on some of the bad coal, and his job was to get fresh coal. Henry went back to the shed to wait for new coal, but Hiro kept on going. He couldn't pull all the trucks with out Henry, so he put half in a siding and went back for them after. Once he got to the docks Sir Top Ham Hatt told him that he and Henry had to take some steal to the docks by four o'clock. Hiro couldn't move them along, so he went' to Tidmouth sheds to get Henry, he told him to keep on puffing, even with the bad coal. Once they delivered the steal they both went to the Steam Works where there fireboxes were cleaned.

My Own Thoughts
It was really nice to see Duck again. Hiro's voice sounded a little different even though he had the same voice actor. I thought Gordon's face was funny when he thought Hero was smelly. Why would there be noise in the firebox, there's no mettle in there, and there driver should have just told them what it was. It was nice to have a time like four o'clock other that tea time, but shouldn't Hiro be back at home with his friends? Why is he still on Sodor?

Episode Review: Thomas and Stepney

Season 4, Episode 16
Air Date: January 4th, 1995
Writer(s): Reverend W. Awdry

Summary
Thomas was puffing happily on his branch line. When he got to the next station Percy was there, Thomas started boasting to Percy about how wonderful his branch line was. Percy told Thomas about Stepney, an engine who ran his own branch line, and that he might come to visit someday. The next day all the engines gathered at Knapford station, Thomas left to take his passengers, but soon after Stepney showed up blowing his whistle through the station. Then Stepney and Duck happily shunted in the yard for the rest of the day. That night some special passengers came to Stepney and asked him for a special. Thomas had to be shunted in the siding, he wasn't happy. Thomas was now in a bad mood for being shunted, and he was still cross the next morning. Soon Stepney came by and said hello to Thomas, then Stepney explained his problem to Thomas, he soon forgot about being cross and told Stepney all about his branch line.

Review
This episode was all right, one error I pointed out though it that the track is blurry when Stepney's driver is talking to him. I liked Thomas' branch line at the beginning of the episode.

Over all I give Thomas & Stepney a 2/10

Season 17 Episode Overview: Calm Down Catlin

Season 17, Episode 5
Air Date: June 7, 2013(UK)
Writer(s): Davey Moore

Summary
Catlin had to take some passengers back to the mainland, but the bridge broke so she had to stay for the night, she asked Sir Top Ham Hatt of she could stay at Tidmouth Sheds, he agreed. Sir Top Ham Hatt told Catlin to be quite, but she was to excited to listen. When she got to Tidmouth sheds Percy said she could sleep in his spot. Catlin wondered what Percy was doing, Thomas said he was delivering the mail. Catlin asked Percy if she could deliver the mail, Percy agreed so they could have some piece and quite. When she was finished she woke up the engines, Henry suggested that she pulled the Flying Kipper. Catlin was excited to stay up all night, but in the morning she was really tired and decided it was time to sleep. Sir Top Ham Hatt came by and informed her that she kept everyone up last night, she said sorry and Sit Top Ham Hatt told her the bridge was fixed and that she could go home. When she got to Kellsthrope station she fell asleep again, but Conner woke her up. Catlin decided that staying up all night wasn't such a good idea after all.

My Own Thoughts
I thought the episode was all right, I don't really like Catlin, and it would have been nice to see Conner a bit more in the episode. The advertisement on Milkshake! kind of spoiled the episode. It's kind of strange that ARC is making a sunset episode ending with the new engines including: Scruff, Stafford and now Catlin. It is a nice touch though.

Season 17 Episode Overview: Scruff's Makeover

Air Date: 4th June, 2013(UK)
Writer(s): Lee Pressman

Summary
Whiff and Scruff were working hard at the wast dump, Whiff told Scruff to collect some garbage cars from Tidmouth sheds. Gordon, James and Henry were there, they wondered how Scruff could handle being so dirty. Scruff pulled into Knapford station to say hello to Sir Top Ham Hatt. Sir Top Ham Hatt told Scruff to go to the Steam Works after he delivered his cars to get repainted. At first Scruff didn't want to be repainted, but after he was he really liked it. Then he went back to the wast dump, but realised that he didn't want to get his new paint dirty, so he asked all the other engines if he could do there job's. They all said no, so Scruff went back to work at the wast dump and was really useful.

My Own Thoughts
Before the episode came out everyone wondered why there was a clean Scruff in the wooden railway line. This episode is a sequel to the last one with Scruff, I think. When Scruff came to Sodor Thomas thought he needed  a wash down, but he didn't want one, so he hid in the bush, and in the end Scruff and Thomas collected garbage together. I thought Scruff puffing home in the sunset was nice.

Episode Review: Rusty to the Rescue

There are only eleven more season four reviews, then it's time for season five reviews. I didn't have time to wright the Weekend Special so next week The Great Discovery overview will be up.

Writer(s): Britt Allcroft, David Mitton
Air Date: January 4, 1995

Summary
Rusty was taking on water, Thomas puffed up wondering why his driver looked worried, Rusty told Thomas that he didn't know yet, but he would find out soon. Rusty asked his driver why he looked upset, his driver explained that they needed another engine to run the Bluebell railway. Rusty had an idea to find a Bluebell engine. He asked Donald where he found Oliver, Donald said he found him on the other railway. Rusty explained his plan to the driver, so the next day they traveled to the Other Railway, it was night time when they got there. A diesel wondered who Rusty was, Rusty explained and the diesel let him pass. Rusty soon found a Bluebell engine, Rusty's engineer agreed to be Stepney's fireman. Everyone worked fast, and soon they raced out. The next morning everyone held a welcome party for Stepney, but everyone still called him the Bluebell engine.

Review
This episode reminds me of Escape. It seems odd that there would be narrow gauge tracks on the other railway. And why did Rusty take on water, isn't he a diesel? The diesel's voice sounded strange, why didn't he say who he was? I did enjoy the spooky night scenes at the Other Railway though.

Over all I give Rusty to the Rescue a 3/10
